August 18, We start the weekend out with two smaller eastside neighborhood festivals: Ekin Park Festival is in its 2nd year located at 700 block of Mayer Ave, it runs from 11:30 – 8:00 and my recommendation is not to miss Chris Plata pay at 3:00 and we also have Schenk’s Corner Block Party, located at the corner of Atwood and Winnebago St. and it runs 2:00 – 10:00August 19, this festival is for the food lovers vs. the music lovers, we move to the near eastside to Breese Stevens with Yum-Yum fest, this will be the most delicious day of summer! It runs from 3:00 to 7:00

August 21, and if you missed La La Land, or want to see it again – The Edgewater is the place to be tonight at dusk for this movie viewing.

August 23 – 26 – Orton Park Festival – this will be at 1103 Spaight St So…. Much to do at this fine festival that is in its 53rd year! Thursday night is family night, Friday night starts out with a Neil Young Cover Band, Check out the website for all the happenings there day & night for this festival.

Aug 24 – Dane Dances – Groupo Candela/VO5… when you see VO5 (and we are not talking 80’s hair product) on the bill, you know you’re going to Celebrate and have a good time!

Aug 28 – Edgewater Movies – Sing…. See you at dusk… bring the popcorn and bug spray!

Aug 31 – Dane Dances – Clyde Stubblefield All Stars/The Voices…. We lost Clyde last year in Februar, but his memory and music lives on with the performers who have played with him over the years…. The band has 100% heart and you will hear and fell the love and respect they all had for Clyde.

Aug 31 – Brewgrass Fridays Edgewater (5 -9) – Charlie Parr… if you have not seen Charlie Parr, you owe it to yourself to check him out. He is the real deal. Other musicians play festivals just because Charlie Parr is there.

Aug 8 – Central Park Sessions – The Sadies will perform with Wheelhouse and Jigjam opening.
Show starts at 5 p.m. located at Milt McPike Park located at 202 S Ingersoll St.  Just a hop, skip, jump away from The Galaxie and The Constellation!
Aug 9 – Central Park Sessions – Justin Townes Earle with Mal O Dua and the Nick Brown Band performing as openers.
The show starts at 5:15 p.m.  Okay folks, Justin is son of Steve Earle and he is even better than his dad!   I have caught his shows both at the High Noon Saloon and The Barrymore Theatre and he is a smashing good time, I will be pulling out my JTE t-shirt for sure this week!
Aug 9 – Madison Night Market
The Market, located along Gilman Street in the heart of downtown Madison will be from 6pm – 11pm, this is the only one in August, and next month will be the last one for the season.

Happenings in the Area August 1st-7th

Aug 1 – Concert on the Square– Music of the New World, this is your last opportunity for Concerts on the Square for this season, so don’t be “square” go put your blanket on the capital lawn and listen to the music.

Aug 1st & 2nd– Central Park Sessions – you get to double your pleasure, not because you use doublemint gum, but because there will be two days of free music at Central Park Sessions.

Aug 2nd,  3rd, and 4th! – Memorial Union – and now you get to triple your pleasure as you can attend three nights in a row at the Terrace after Dark music series.

Aug 3 – Live on King Street – Margo Price 7:00- There are only a few more shows left for the season for Live on King Street Music Series, so try and stop by for more free music!

Every Friday in August at 5:30, the fine folks at the Monona Terrace brings us the FREE series – Dane Dances. Starting on August 3rd with – The Associates/Kinfolk

Aug 3 – Brewgrass Fridays Edgewater (5 -9) –Armchair Boogie is who you can see this week for free, a beautiful space on the lake to spend an evening socializing, grabbing a cocktail and listening to music.
