August 18, We start the weekend out with two smaller eastside neighborhood festivals: Ekin Park Festival is in its 2nd year located at 700 block of Mayer Ave, it runs from 11:30 – 8:00 and my recommendation is not to miss Chris Plata pay at 3:00 and we also have Schenk’s Corner Block Party, located at the corner of Atwood and Winnebago St. and it runs 2:00 – 10:00August 19, this festival is for the food lovers vs. the music lovers, we move to the near eastside to Breese Stevens with Yum-Yum fest, this will be the most delicious day of summer! It runs from 3:00 to 7:00
August 21, and if you missed La La Land, or want to see it again – The Edgewater is the place to be tonight at dusk for this movie viewing.
August 23 – 26 – Orton Park Festival – this will be at 1103 Spaight St So…. Much to do at this fine festival that is in its 53rd year! Thursday night is family night, Friday night starts out with a Neil Young Cover Band, Check out the website for all the happenings there day & night for this festival. http://marquette-neighborhood.org/festivals/orton-park-festival/
Aug 24 – Dane Dances – Groupo Candela/VO5… when you see VO5 (and we are not talking 80’s hair product) on the bill, you know you’re going to Celebrate and have a good time!
Aug 28 – Edgewater Movies – Sing…. See you at dusk… bring the popcorn and bug spray!
Aug 31 – Dane Dances – Clyde Stubblefield All Stars/The Voices…. We lost Clyde last year in Februar, but his memory and music lives on with the performers who have played with him over the years…. The band has 100% heart and you will hear and fell the love and respect they all had for Clyde.
Aug 31 – Brewgrass Fridays Edgewater (5 -9) – Charlie Parr… if you have not seen Charlie Parr, you owe it to yourself to check him out. He is the real deal. Other musicians play festivals just because Charlie Parr is there.
